Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishment toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.
Five Heads are Better than One
Nothing else was in the room except for a small table of snacks, cups and pitchers of water because the group was committed to staying in the room until they solved the challenge.
The group tried various things. One idea was to put gum (that someone was chewing) at the end of a belt worn by one of the team members and lower it down hoping the gum would stick to the ping pong ball. But the belt wasn’t long enough. Many of the ideas they came up with were creative, but none of them worked.
Suggestions ricocheted back and forth until they were stumped, slumped on the floor and filling their pieholes with snacks. Once relaxed, an idea hatched.
Can you guess what it was? They poured the pitcher of water into the tube causing the ball to rise up to the top. It was then easily removed.
I don’t think one person alone would have come up with the solution. It was the give and take between individuals, the trying, the failing and the trying again that solved the riddle.
